Program notes for this morning's edition of Great Sacred Music:
"7/13 — Bastille Day tomorrow (7/14) prompts us to program two great French Requiems: the first by Jean Giles from the 18th century and another by Hector Berlioz from the 19th century."
I never really paid attention to these requiems, a mistake that thankfully I can rectify with a little CD shopping. Looking ahead, I see one of my sentimental favorites (the Great One's Leonore Overture No. 3) just before noon.
